Reading
At an early age, children are prepared to master phonics, blend letters to form words and read sentences, which leads to comprehension. Reading in all aspects is a powerful part of growing and learning which helps you think critically. It helps build creativity and allows you to see other perspectives. The combination of vocabulary and comprehension skills aids wonderfully for students to excel in their academics.
Writing
In order to master any craft, constant practice and action is necessary. This is true for writing as well; you learn how to write by writing. Writing is necessary for everyday activities, whether it may be expressing oneself in an organized, detail-oriented manner, or conveying a message through an advanced essay format. Doing so starts with basic motor skills and a strong writing foundation in grammar, sentence writing, paragraph formation, and capitalization. With middle and high school level writing comes advanced research projects, expository and persuasive writing prompts, books reports, etc. In the ending years of high school, writing skills are required in order to fill competitive college applications. Clearly, advanced writing skills are required in order to excel in all phases of school. Every child should know that a great writing approach is very much needed to prosper.

PSAT/SAT

The PSAT test is a heavy determinant of the progress that a student has made in their academics. With a sufficient score on the PSAT, students can qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program in order to assist in college funding. It also serves as an indicator of readiness for the most important test a student will take, the SAT. The PSAT/SAT consists of Math, Reading and Writing. MK's Learning Center provides classes for excellence in all three subject matters that make up these exams.
